A little about us
Hi, I’m Gigi, I co-founded ZoRaw with my partner Tanveer. We’re a functional chocolate manufacturer proudly based out of Canada. We officially launched in 2022 and what a journey its been! Having experienced auto immune issues for several years, I stumbled upon the keto diet. Starting it just to lose weight, I miraculously found that one day I woke up with all of my symptoms gone. The benefits of the keto diet had such a positive impact that I’ve been on a high fat-low carb plan for years since. With my new lifestyle, the only issue I had was that I couldn’t find a good alternative for my favorite treat: chocolate. After attending a chocolate tour in South America, I started making my own chocolate recipes at home. While not a finished product yet, I knew I had to bring this chocolate to life. I convinced Tanveer to join and starting from just our basement, we grew to having our own chocolate factory! It took a while to get there, from more than a thousand test batches, machinery break downs to entire large production batches being ruined it was a lot to get through. But in 2022, we finally launched. Thanks to customers like you, we’ve be able to expand to stores throughout Canada and entering new stores everyday!
Community & Women Empowerment
Through my entire childhood, I was raised by a single immigrant mother and witnessed her juggle multiple jobs to make ends meet. Through her tireless work, my mom was able to give my brother and I a better life. The experience has given me a profound respect for single moms and the struggles they go through. For many single moms, the economic pressures are debilitating for themselves and their children. Nearly a third of single mothers live in poverty with the poverty rate for single mothers nearly fives that for married-couple families. Almost one third of single mothers had difficulties in getting food for their children. They also have significantly harder times accessing child care, employment and education opportunities. ZoRaw pledges a portion of its sales to charities supporting single moms throughout Canada. These charities help provide single moms with better access to food, education, child care and employment. It’s our tiny contribution to make our future a better place for us all. Through ZoRaw, we have a commitment to donate to local food banks as a small way of helping our community stay food secure.
Mission & Sustainability
Our mission is to provide functional chocolate that serves as a catalyst in the world’s transition to healthy eating. We envision a future where sugar-filled convenience chocolates are filled with a better for you alternative in every pantry, lunch box and beyond. Both Tanveer and I came from multi-generational farming families and understand the importance of treating farmer’s right. We ensure all of our cocoa is fair trade certified and our ingredients are sustainably sourced.
